My Sausage dog jumper pattern for Caboodle Magazine

 

Anyone who knows me from Instagram will know Frank and Albert our 2 mini(ish) Dachshunds, they even have their own account @the_sausageboys ! A while back I crocheted Frank a new jumper as he feels the cold more than his scruffy long haired Brother Albert. The lovely Kayti Feather of Caboodle Magazine saw it on IG and asked if I would like to write a pattern for the Spring edition of the magazine , naturally as the theme was to be an English country garden it just had to be a Bumble Bee jumper complete with curly antenna!

This is the first time I have written a pattern and it's the first time I've had anything published too,I'm so pleased to have been included in such an awesome magazine, it truly is beautiful, definitely one for the coffee table, to be savoured over so you can  appreciate its fab articles and stunning photography!
And although Frank and Albert were not particularly chuffed with their modelling debuts, they were more than happy with Kayti's lovely Sausage dog Frank's photo shoot !

Make cushions while the rain falls!

Flaming June! Well what a to do, June has seen our household entering the domain of another Teenager, although I maintain she has been a practising teen for the last 5yrs! It has seen a trip to the Harry Potter film studio tour, for said Teenagers treat, funny how somethings' remain 'cool'.It has been the month where the garden has gone from lush to lush with knobs on( for lush you can substitute wild!)June was also the month that my lovely Husband ( he will probably read this ! ) gave me a 1930's Art Deco ruby eternity ring! Which i have been hankering after for many a year! It has also been a month of crochet, sometimes frantic, finishing egg cosies for the Bicycle Bazaar that fell foul of the weather, but mostly enjoyable, bags, granny squares, and my first ever circular cushion ! Oh and there was something about a jubilee and apparently more rain than than you can wiggle a crochet hook at, not that I am complaining, bring on the rain as long rainy days = crafting days I'll be humming ( singing would upset the animals! ) And to think it's only 13 days in, wonder what will happen in the rest of the month!

Dog days !

Well it's certainly raining Cats and Dogs, everything in the long thin house seems kind of at a go slow ! Things are going on but it all seems to be on the un hurried side, not in a bad way, just in a it'll get done eventually way.
I love days like this torrential rain is a good excuse to take stock, curl up with a book or favourite magazine, sit and crochet or sew, all seems cocooned by the appalling weather outside, the girls ( the chickens), Minerva, Pomona and Rowena , who are usually singing at the tops of their voices are quietly dust bathing in the farthest corner of their run, sheltering from raindrops, the Kittens ( they are actually fully grown Tom cats,but to us they are forever Kittens !), are curled up snugly on our bed, although they would say it's their bed! And even Floyd the Weimaraner, who is very rarely still, who jumps up and flomps around getting under your feet trying to be as near to you as possible, who's bark sounds as deep and menacing as the hound of the baskervilles, who terrifies Mr postman but is the biggest soppiest Weimaraner ever, is asleep in his basket, with his pal Ralph, who at the grand old age of 17 can usually be found sleeping, somewhere.

I can understand why they say animals are good for the soul, perhaps they are not so good for the soft furnishings, but I think a few hairs is a small price to pay for something that makes you smile.

Well that's better! Today has been more successful with the folksy listings, I have been over everything twice so apart from my dodgy photos all should be well, I'm very pleased with myself for being so determined, not usually one of my strengths ( those usually involve cake or chocolate or both! ) so not a bad start,still have a few things left to add,and also have a few new ideas up my sleeve, but plenty of time for that. Although, today has not been without a small crisis! Our Weimaraner Floyd has developed a large swelling on his back leg and it is making him limp. Husband has had a good look and it doesn't seem to be causing him any pain as such, only the limp! Anyone who knows Weimaraners' knows that they are prone to being a bit lumpy, Floyd has some spectacular lumps that are completely harmless just a bit unsightly which is a shame because he is such a good looking dog! He is 8 years old know so not a young dog,and we will have to keep an eye on him if it's not better by Tuesday it's off to the vets to see what he has to say, apart from this is going to cost lots of money!! Fingers crossed.
